Swarm from our town hive

This morning while I was hanging out some laundry (yeah, I know it's Sunday!!) I heard a loud buzzing sound and sure enough our hive on our porch roof was swarming. Bert came home from the farm where the corn was being planted and luckily for us the swarm was still on the outside of the hive (rather then up on a branch in a tree) and he just swept them into a new hive box and took it to the farm. So hopefully these "city" bees will adapt to country living!! And hopefully we have captured the Queen as well as the worker bees.

at Age and Mary's wedding in 1972

Today is the 40th wedding anniversary party for Age and Mary and when going through my photos of their wedding day I only have two pictures. One of the bride and groom (very blurry picture) and one of Stef, Marianne Segeren (I believe) and myself. Keep in mind that these were the days of the "mini-skirt".

Pictures of our trip to the Southern States

This is our campsite at Falcon State Park.
We toured the LBJ Ranch State Park where there was a White House. He was the first president who had his own White House at his home.
He had a runway built for this jet to transport him and his staff to his ranch from the airport in Austin where Air Force One would land.
The National Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas.
Camped on the jetty at Port Aransas, Texas.
The Battleship Alabama which Bert toured as well as a submarine there.
In Mobile, Alabama they have a Mardi Gras and the beads remain in trees, fences, on the lawns etc.
When we got home Bert opened up the beehive on our porch roof and the centre of this frame shows capped brood. A good sign of a healthy hive.

Weiner roast at the pond.

The campfire sure was appreciated since it was a cool evening.
