Thanksgiving Day walk.

On Monday several of us went for a walk to the back of Bert and Marianne's farm.

Thanksgiving day

Indeed another beautiful October day. Seen above is the family photo taken after dinner, with Nick arriving just in time to add his mug.
Earlier in the day, the weather provided an opportunity to work on the soybean harvest. Above, Jeff is seen taking a short break with Bob, Roxy and myself. You really couldn't buy a better day.

The weather was beautiful this thanksgiving.

Stacey arrives.

Bill Monk

So I found this neat web ap, Bill Monk. Its a 'social banking' site - you create an account (with friends) and when you split a bill it tracks who owes who how much. It also keeps track of lending books and DVDs etc and you can upload info using a phone (say when you're at dinner and you want to remember the bill). The 'take a tour' gives a pretty good explanation.

Marijke showing off the results of her application of the tar on the foundation of her future home.

This picture was taken at the back of Marijke's little cabin.

This is Marijke's temporary home while her "real" house is being built.

This picture of our canoe and Brad's kayak was taken from the top of the Baron Canyon in Algonquin Park.

Isabel phoning home from Aukje's patio.

There were so many scenic babbling brooks that we lost count.

What a great bicycle ride on the second day. We went approx. 54 kilometers that day and 26 kilometers the day before.

Found the names.

Isabel and Aukje pointing to the Huitema name on the plaque.

This is the pavilion that houses the plaque with the Huitema name on it.

This is the section of the bike path that was built on abandoned railroad lines. The Huitema family donated some money for the buildiing of this wonderful bike path in memory of their parents.

Isabel, Aukje and Marianne started on the beautiful bike path in Granby but before too long the seat of Marianne's bike needed raising and a kind gentleman assisted us (actually he did it) and we were soon on our way again.

Skype and An Inconvenient Truth

There's a free internet phone program called Skype. You need a microphone and speaker for the computer or a headset system. I know my housemate prefers the little headset system. With Skype, you can call other people running Skype for free, anywhere in the world. If you have or install Skype and want to talk to me, e-mail me and I will give you my username.

Also, if you are running the program Skype, you can call any phone in North America for free. So I can run Skype, and call my parent's home phone and talk for free and they don't need to be using Skype. This will only be available for the rest of the year (but Skype to Skype calls will still work after that for free).

Finally, I just saw the movie An Inconvenient Truth which was really good and very educational.
