In Paris

Carly in Europe

I have just finished the tour of Italy. It was fantastic, Venice was so surprising (I knew there were canals but I didn't realize there wasn't a car or bicycle in the entire city). Rome was amazing, the picture is of me in the Colosseum. Now I am in Lucern Switzerland visiting a friend. I have posted a bunch of stories and photos on my blog.

Carly's trip

Carly has a lot of pictures from her time spent in Holland on her blog. Her blog can be found at the right under "links".

This was what she wrote about the "witches' scale"....
In a nearby neighbourhood of Oudewater they had the honest weigh scales for weighing witches in the 16th century. I went to the museum and was weighed on the orignal scales. I also got a certificate stating that I was *not* a witch.

Mount Rushmore

This picture of Bert and Carly at Lynn Valley in B.C. close to the Capilana Suspension Bridge was taken about a week or so ago.

We are just now leaving the Mount Rushmore area, the last big stop on our way home. Such great distances going through the prairies! Will post more pictures when we get home.

Carly's version of convocation

Sorry for the second post but I wanted to post my version of convocation. Here I am just after being hooded by the president of the University (black and white). The lady starting to clap is the chancellor.

And this is outside of convocation where I am holding the UBC mace which opens and closes ceremonies. It was carved by Bill Reid and it was very heavy.
