A bird in the hand....

A couple of days ago Bert found this Cedar Waxwing under the netting that is supposed to protect our strawberries from the birds. He let the bird go and then while I was picking strawberries yesterday I had to release another Cedar Waxwing. Hopefully it's not the same one!

Pancake Breakfast in Staffa

 Bert and I met up with Marie and Jake and Max at the Pancake Breakfast in Staffa a while ago.

 Great food!

It was a cool day but we all took the horse and buggy ride to the Maple Sugar Bush.

Swarm from our town hive

This morning while I was hanging out some laundry (yeah, I know it's Sunday!!) I heard a loud buzzing sound and sure enough our hive on our porch roof was swarming. Bert came home from the farm where the corn was being planted and luckily for us the swarm was still on the outside of the hive (rather then up on a branch in a tree) and he just swept them into a new hive box and took it to the farm. So hopefully these "city" bees will adapt to country living!! And hopefully we have captured the Queen as well as the worker bees.
