Hello from Switzerland!

I have arrived in Switzerland and am enjoying the skiing. However, it is really really hard to find an apartment. It takes on average two months to find an apartment and you need to view the apartment, then go to the agency and fill out applications and do this about 20 times and wait.

However, thinking about some skiing instead. I went with some friends from Vancouver and we went to the Matterhorn!

I bought new telemark skis as well, they aren't quite as garishly coloured as the last ones, but still pretty bright.

Food is expensive, everything is expensive. But, not as bad as you might think since all the taxes are included in the prices which makes comparing them difficult. Cheese and yogurt are cheaper here, it must be because of all the cows! Meat is  much more expensive.

And speaking of livestock, check me out with the sheep on campus! They are grazing on the grass outside my building at EPFL. They are used instead of lawnmowers and I can sit at my window and watch them fight.

The other big difference is how early the stores close. Almost nothing is open on Sunday, and most grocery stores are only open until 6 or 7pm. Apparently many women in Switzerland don't work, or work limited hours which is one explanation for the severe lack of shopping hours. Sometimes you can become really desperate for some food. Damn I need a housewife.
